Mercury in Retrograde.
Trying to harpoon so much when the cosmos is in such a muddy state has been Frustration Central. Don't underestimate the power of those heavenly bodies up there, we humans are made of so much water it's ludicrous to think the ebbing and flowing of the tides of the universe have no affect upon us.
I personally have never been faced with more computer issues in my young professional life. It's like I have been walking through mud just to accomplish the simplest editing tasks. My queue is backed up and I have frustrated clients- never a good thing for business. I really hope to get all of this sussed out asap. With the economy so bad and revenue only trickling in, it's not likely I'll be in a position to upgrade my system for some time.
In the middle of it all, we made the absurd decision to move again. I just moved in May, for the first time in almost 4 years, and the experience was not a smooth one. The new space is fantastic though, and the transition hasn't been as rough as the one a few months ago, though I am not looking forward to ever packing, moving, stairs, unpacking any time soon. The studio still isn't together yet, and my mind feels fuzzy. I am itching to illustrate, and to be able to photo edit without sharing my space with stacks of boxes.
July found this girl developing the logo concept for a local concierge business as well as creating direct mail pieces for a local map retailer (ho, hum.)
August was spent designing the CD art for singer / songwriter Kalai King's September release of his latest 4 song E.P. "Down Home" (
[link]) I also designed King's website, which is has parts under construction but at least it's on its feet finally.
Now, it's the end of September already and the weather flipped like a switch the last day of August and isn't expected to return to altitude until late May of 2010, which was dramatically sobering for me. The northeast wears cold weather a lot longer than other parts of the country I've lived in, and though I've been back for several years, I haven't yet become acclimated to the lower temperatures.
I'm facing a milestone birthday in two months and trying to stay excited about the mysteries of the future while sucking the marrow out of the present moment. There are so many projects pent up inside.... I really can't wait to be in the space and mindset in order to begin executing one or five of 'em....

'do you know who the real heroes are? the guys who wake up every morning and go into their normal jobs, and get a distress call from the commissioner, and take off their glasses and change into capes, and fly around fighting crime.' - dwight schrute
